What a year 2011 is going to be with the new Wright & McGill products being introduced this year at the ICAST show being held in Las Vegas. Here’s a peek of what you can expect to see.
Inshore saltwater rods that will provide the ultimate in performance and affordability. Seven new models designed around W/M’s exclusive S-Curve blank technology for strength, sensitivity, lightweight and incredible lifting power making the new W/M S-Curve Blair Wiggins Signature Series rods the best performing, most durable rods in its class. The one of a kind color design on these rods makes them almost invisible to fish in clear water giving the angler a true advantage by not spooking fish in shallow, clear water. Micro Honeycomb technology offers ultra thin, lightweight blanks constructed of 100% modulus carbon that are bound together by our new, industry leading Micro Honeycomb resin. These rods combine this exclusive blank technology with the addition of high performance micro guides, the newest trend in high performance rods offering increased accuracy and lighter weight. Available in three spinning and one casting.
Wright & McGill Skeet Reese Victory™ Spinning and Spincasting Reels
Wright & McGill Co. and Skeet Reese have worked together to design a new series of spinning and spincast reels that will not only stand up to the rigors of the Bassmaster Elite Series Tournaments, but are priced so the average fisherman can use the gear that professional anglers like Skeet use everyday. The Victory spinning reel is available in four popular sizes – 2500 to a large framed 4000 series and the spincast is available in both a 6.2:1 and 7.0:1 version in both right and left hand retrieve.
Three new models added to the line for 2011 The two new S-Glass rods are a 6’6 Short Mag Crankbait and a 7’10” Magnum Crankbait and feature split handle design, custom handles and the famous W&M soft crankbait action. The S-Curve is a 7’6” Pitchin’ Stik and has an extra fast action, split handle design for balance and weight reduction along with the very popular custom handle that has been so popular with all of the other Skeet Reese rods. Skeet Reese helped design this beginning anglers’ combo that features a high quality 5’2”, 2 piece, spincast rod and reel that will make it easy for young anglers to cast over and over again. I recently started using the Skeet Reese Signature Series Rods a few months ago and wanted to let you know how much I love them. (Here) is a picture of a 10 pound 14 ounces bass landed on the Skeet Reese Spinner Bait / Worm Rod. I was using a strike king sexy shad spinner bait in a tourney on Rodman Reservoir in Florida. The trail was the Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail.
I only started bass fishing a year ago and the Skeet Reese series has made it so easy to learn which rods to use for certain situations.
Awesome job, keep up the good work.
Oh yea, that was my first over ten pounds!!
Sincerely,
James Hatch, Vice President Energy Services

New collection of special Tessera rods have Skeet Reese written all over them.
Recent years have seen a growing trend in fishing rod manufacturing. Although anglers still have plenty of general-duty sticks to choose from, there is a whole new world of technique-specific designs. Many top manufacturers have made contributions to this style, and Wright & McGill have done so with a line of higher-end rods without the higher-end price tag.
When the company teamed-up with 2009 Bassmaster Classic Champion Skeet Reese, the result was one of the more interesting collections of specialty rods to come along in a long time. The Skeet Reese edition “Tessera” is available in a full spectrum of casting and spinning models, and at a price point that makes them accessible to virtually any angler.
Since Stan Wright and Drew McGill formed Wright & McGill nearly 80 years ago, the Colorado based firm has grown to become one of the most recognized names in angling. The company has come a long way from manufacturing bamboo poles and now offers a wide array of products under both the Wright & McGill and Eagle Claw brands. Their new assortment of vibrant rods bearing the legendary Lucky Craft pro’s signature gained overnight popularity among anglers, and is a prime example of how Wright & McGill is swinging for the fences.
The new Tessera series consists of eight models that have been made using S-Curve Technology and two models constructed with Tri-Gressive S-Glass. The SCurve combines T-Glass with high-density graphite to produce a rod that is superior in terms of strength and sensitivity. The blank is wrapped in carbon tape and graphite to reduce cracking and to further increase its strength.
Two other rods are constructed of Tri-Gressive S-Glass for fishing crankbaits and mark the next level in glass rod-blank technology. The blank combines three layers of connective fibers and is 25 percent stronger than fiberglass with a reaction that rivals graphite. The pair has superb power and hook-setting capabilities while being incredibly light.
There are eight, technique-specific graphite S-Curve sticks available: flippin’/pitchin’, jerkbait/topwater, spinnerbait/worm, jig/worm, Senko/toad and swimbait/Carolina rig. The two spinning models are a drop shot/split shot and a shaky-head/Senko. All are one piece and range in lengths from 6-foot 8-inches to 8-foot long. The two crankbait rods are 7-foot and 7-foot 10-inches. Every rod features split handles made with molded rubber for a comfortable feel and grip as well as reduced weight and improved balance. Zirconium guides also help reduce weight and pave the way for superior casting performance. Each rod in the Tessera series is marked by Reese’s signature yellow and black color scheme.

Wright & McGill had a great time at the Classic. The Tessera Skeet Reese rods were a huge hit with the pros and the fans alike. We sold hundreds of the rods through the retailers at the show and everyone received a Skeet replica jersey with purchase.
Thanks for all the great feedback on the rods. at least half the people were there to buy a second or third model for the coming season. Check out some of the great photos from the event.

We recently heard from a Skeet rod fan. This testimonial is just too good not to post. Thank you Shawn for taking the time to let us know your thoughts.
I recently purchased two Skeet Reese signature rods, a spinnerbait\wormbait model, which has quickly became my favorite rod and a Senko rod. I own other rods that were much more expensive- a Setyr that was 250 dollars and a G Loomis rod that was 290 dollars and a couple Falcon Cara series rods that were 240 dollars each. I wish you guys had came out with these rods earlier, not only are they affordable but they are easier to fish with than the more expensive rods I own. I’ve had 4 back surgeries and fishing hard for 8 hours straight takes its toll on me, especially in two and three day tournaments. Before I would have to stop fishing for sometimes 20 or 30 minutes towards the end of the day and lay flat on my back on the deck of my Skeeter boat while my partner ran the trolling motor for me because I hurt so bad by the end of the day I just couldn’t fish anymore, but after buying your rods I’m fishing longer and hurting less, which translates into catching more fish and I can enjoy myself without being in too much pain. The spinnerbait\wormbait rod is so light and has increased my casting distance with less effort, and its so versatile I can do almost anything with it. I can throw spinnerbaits and I can even throw crankbaits without worrying about ripping the bait out of the fish’s mouth. Because of the soft tip it so sensitive I can use it as a shaky head rod. It’s just an awesome all around rod and the lifetime warranty inspires confidence. I had a G Loomis rod break on me last year while fighting a fish and not only did I lose the fish but when I went to get a new one under warranty, it took almost 4 months and they sent me a rod blank and I had to find someone to put eyes on the rod. I was very disappointed especially after paying over 300 dollars after taxes for a rod to go through all that. I can see myself retiring the rest of my rods and buying a few more Skeet Reese signature rods real soon. If these rods are good enough for Skeet to use on the tournament trail and for him to bet his career on, then they should be good enough for anybody. I know they have won me over. Thank you for making such a quality rod and keeping it affordable.
Sincerely,
Shawn English
